A Little History of Tunnock’s
Founded in 1890 by Thomas Tunnock in Uddingston, Scotland, Tunnock’s began as a family bakery and has grown into one of Scotland’s most treasured confectionery brands.
The legendary Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer, first introduced in 1952, features layers of crisp wafer and delicious caramel, all coated in milk chocolate. Its distinctive red and gold wrapper has become instantly recognisable around the world.
The equally famous Tunnock’s Tea Cake, introduced in 1956, combines a soft marshmallow centre on a biscuit base, covered in a delicate layer of chocolate and wrapped in its iconic red and silver foil.
More than a century after its founding, Tunnock’s remains a family-owned Scottish business, with its much-loved products continuing to be made in Uddingston, near Glasgow.
