Each Harris Tweed Whiskey Oak Stave Floor Lamp hand made is authenticated and thoroughly checked before going on sale. Hand crafted using Scottish solid oak whiskey staves. Includes hand made Harris Tweed lamp shade. If you prefer to have the lampshade in another Harris Tweed please confirm at checkout. A unique and eye catching floor standing lamp, handcrafted from recycled whisky barrel staves and hoops. The lamp draws its character both from the natural beauty of the oak and from the retained man made shapes and features in the cask that arise from the ancient art of whisky making. The elegantly curved and tapered legs are formed from 4 oak barrel staves, planed and sanded to reveal the beautiful grain structure of the aged whisky soaked oak, while retaining some of the character gained during decades of use in whisky maturation. The ends of each stave still shows the angle tapering from the crown of the barrel and the V grooves for locating the barrel head. The cleaned oak is available with 4 finish choices - clear lacquer, or light, medium or dark oak stain overcoated with clear lacquer (select when purchasing). The dark/black finish on the inside of each stave is the result of the barrel firing that is an integral part of the whisky maturation process. Loose charring is removed and the underlying solid wood is sanded to a smooth lustre and coated with clear lacquer. The hoop around the base of the lamp is formed from a reclaimed steel barrel hoop, cleaned and burnished to a dark matt finish in keeping with the styling and source material of the lamp.   Stain - Clear Lacquer, Light Oak, Medium Oak or Dark Oak Full Height Including Lampshade (Based On 15cm Metal Stem) - 130cm, 150cm, or 170cm (approximate height as it is hand crafted) Metal Stem Options - Chrome or Brass (15cm or 7.5cm) Bulb Fitting - Bayonet Lampshade - 40cm Accepts a standard bayonet style bulb, and includes a threaded ring for securing a shade.
